Provider, Producer or Both?
Canada is not alone in having their economy controlled by their producer masters for 2 centuries. Our British “parents” decided to develop Canada as a supplier of raw materials to their tiny island along with many other colonies. However, after our soldiers proved their worth to the British Empire, we chose another parent… the United States of America.
Outnumbering us 10 to 1 has remained consistent for 100 years. It has always been nice to have so many customers for our excess, but our growth in wealth has lagged behind them instead of exceeded them. The producer is more prosperous than the provider. Thus, the producer even bought our producers and gained full control over Canada’s development. Cautious and economically cowardly politics have produced 100 years of foreign economic control and financial control over capital accumulation within Canada.
It’s not that Canada has suffered greatly as we have been well kept financial and cultural slaves to the USA. But many decisions that could have made Canada much greater were over-ruled by foreign interests.
A good example is the barely publicized dispute between our CRA and Chrysler Canada. By selling Canadian production to American dealers at prices up to 30% or more lower than Canadian dealers, they avoided paying tax revenues, never mind gouged the Canadian consumers. (It is likely a true assumption that all the other Canadian automotive subsidiaries were doing the exact same thing. There was always a cozy relationship between the Canadian subsidiary “competitors” from back when I worked for one of them in the late 1960’s).
Clearly our Competition Laws have been made unenforceable by our legal culture, so it isn’t possible under Canada’s present value systems to regain control of our capacity as “producers”. Only changes to our values will equip us to change to a more self-serving infra-structure across our country.
Canada has exploited its role as a supplier to the world (of the USA), but it is time now to direct our own rate of development as a country of nations and cultures. Our heads need to be turned around to the future and the past should be layed to rest in peace.
We need to see that Canada's future is not controlled by Google or Facebook or LinkedIn, nor is it controlled by the oligopoly price gougers of the banking, health care, energy, mining, forestry, agriculture, fishing, manufacturing, grocery and retailing sectors, nor is it controlled by the domineering unions, nor is it controlled by American currency speculators, American trade policies, American cultural degradation, or American fear of the world and humanity. All of these things affect us negatively, but none control Canada’s future.
Canada's future will be controlled by the spirit of each and every Canadian.
A vision of our past worth seeing is the incredible 9000 years of people living their lives across this vast landmass and its’ adjoining seas. Survival was tough but we all treasured our “home and native land”. This vision can't help but stress the importance of our present family hopes and aspirations, plus our need for dynamic leadership if we are to acquire the spirit to develop our country on our own.
Unfortunately, the world has become significantly de-stabilized, which means Canada must turn inwards to build our autonomy, our sovereignty and improve our stewardship of what we have.
We need a leader who will “take his finger out of the dyke”. Canada lays not behind the dyke, but is the water on the other side. We have all five resources (Human, Physical, Technological, Informational, and Financial) required to accelerate us to awesome prosperity. We can only achieve this by balancing our Provider and Producer capacities. As Provider, we need to enable every Canadian to access all the resources they need. As Producers we need to develop personal visions of what we want to produce for Canadians and our international partners.
Of course, we must not become insular, but we must become focused upon Canada First. As we progress in serving our country’s needs, we will produce surplus for others in need. This is not complex. “KISS” will never become out-of-style for people.
As we look at this world in 2016, it is in too many ways no different than 1916. We are coming out of chaos, war, oppression and confusion and the monetary system is almost destroyed. We may have begun the race through this century, but too many people have chosen to fight and steal instead of building a future with what they have. Canada needs to get running out of the mob and to gather up a few friends to join us on our road to prosperity.
The rest will follow once their people wake up and decide that they no longer want to fight or work for those who oppress others. The world is turning every day and it is time to enjoy our ride.
May God bless “Our home and native land”.
